All Feed Mills to be Ractopamine Free

Nov 05, 2019

Pork producers strive to efficiently produce quality pork. CFE has supplied many options to increase carcass lean percentages over the years. One of the products used was a feed additive, ractopamine hydrochloride, also referred to as Paylean. Paylean was approved in 1999 to be fed at levels of 4.5 grams to 9 grams per ton. This product increases muscle growth and protein accretion.

The increased need for additional pork in other countries has created concerns for much of the packing industry to turn to a program that would be free of ractopamine. This program requires the feed mill producing the feed, the delivery trucks and the site bins to be free of any product that could contaminate the pork for export or to be ractopamine free.

CFE has made the decision that ALL FEED MILLING LOCATIONS will be RACTOPAMINE FREE due to a large portion of packer contracts to be free of ractopamine. This process will start December 1, 2019. This date ensures that any groups feeding Paylean will finish the feeding period of the required 28 days.

Please contact your CFE sales representative with any questions you may have.
