There’s been a lot of curiosity around how effective drone applications can be at wider spray widths. One of the biggest questions we hear is whether a drone can truly provide an even, effective herbicide application at lower gallons per acre compared to a traditional ground machine. We recently had the chance to put our new EAVision J150 drones to the test on a burndown application and the results speak for themselves.
After extensive testing and fine-tuning our setup, we’re confident in the application quality these drones can deliver. The photos below show strong coverage and consistent results, even while operating at wider widths and higher speeds.

A common misconception is that lower gallons per acre automatically means reduced effectiveness. While application setup and environmental conditions are critical, these results show that with the right droplet size, spray pattern, speed and weather conditions, drone applications can achieve excellent herbicide performance and very even coverage.
One of the biggest takeaways from this application was the consistency across the entire width of the pass. Through trialing different setups and refining our process, we’ve been able to maintain strong coverage while improving efficiency in the field.
As drone application technology continues to evolve, so do the opportunities for more timely applications, reduced crop and soil compaction and increased operational flexibility when field conditions may not allow traditional equipment to operate effectively. We’re excited about what these systems can offer growers and look forward to continuing to test, learn and improve.
