Whether raised on a family farm or starting their own farming production – CFE is committed to growing the next generation of farmers and helping them become successful. Our drive to provide young farmers additional opportunities is one of the many ways CFE is raising the standard of what it means to be a cooperative member.
Through valuable programs, events and professional development, CFE is encouraging leadership to a selected group of young farming decision-makers. As farming continues to change and develop, CFE wants to ensure we are providing as much information as possible to ensure young farmers are knowledgeable when making decisions. We do this through networking with experts in the industry, and growing relationships with CFE staff.
Over a period of 18 months, a group of 25-30 area farmers are selected to be a Core class member. These free classes and events are individualized based on class preference determined through surveys each participant completes. Topics can range from farm financials and tax planning, livestock performance analytics and enhancing production to government relations and leadership. Core also features topics like cooperative structure to aid in participants’ understanding of a cooperative, as well as operational decisions of CFE.
If you are interested in becoming involved in our next Core class, please fill out an application. Significant others are welcome and encouraged to participate as well.
